Jack's Pack
We are the Senior League representatives @ 3.0 NTRA for the Spring USTA
Leagues from Snee Farm.
Our team chose the name Jack's Pack to honor our Captain, Octogenarian Jack Schmitt, who
keeps us motivated and leads by example on the tennis court! On Saturday mornings it won't
be hard to spot the team in their Blue Caps with gold emblazoned "Jacks Pack" on the front.
Results at the S C State Senior Tennis Championships, 3.0 Men's Division.
Jack's Pack was entered in Group 3 along with Hilton Head 3, Lexington, and Sun City 2. We beat Hilton Head and
Lexington 2 & 1. We fell to Sun City 1 & 2. Lexington went on to the Semi-finals with their 6 & 3 record. We ended our contest in 2nd place, Group 3, with a 5 & 4 record.
Jack's Pack was the only team to beat Lexington on their way to the Men's 3.0 Finals Title, which I suppose gives us
a "moral victory" and the "mythical" championship for South Carolina 3.0s......:-)
Our complements to John Glaser who traveled back and forth from Charleston to Hilton Head on two days to give us
enough players to last the full three matches. Our appreciation as well to Bill Benesch, age 85, who provided amazing
strength and talent in two of the three matches. A very warm day on Saturday sapped the strength of our players and required considerable liquid refreshment during the Saturday Evening party in the Tennis Masters complex in Shipyard
Plantation, Hilton Head.
Peggy von Frankenburg cooked a delicious cake for presentation to our captain, Jack Schmitt. Check it out!
